Email API for Customer Requirement Forms

The core use of my systems was order management between BT Global Solutons and BT Wholes sale. Customer orders placed on our systems had to be replicated onto BT main systems and order and circuit data fed back.

The order management teams carried out swivel chair operations, which it turns out from my work with EE still goes on today!!

This was another concurrency overhead on the core systems which I resolved by designing and delivering an API with outlook such that an order could be emailed automatically, and their response by email against tags could be read and fed back in. No human intervention at all.

This messaging system was a huge success, improved productivity 4 fold and completely relieved the strain on thin client services and servers whilst also improving process methodology through use of group email boxes.

The solution was eventually emulated across the business for a number of functions.
