Web Development, Design and training
Basic Service
To be clear. Although I have developed HTML, ASP and some XML, I do not consider myself a Web Developer. I manage proper web developers from time to time, and work on analysis and design as part of my freelancing. However there are plenty of content management systems (CMS) tools and applications that allow you to build a web site without needing this knowledge. A lot of web "development" is done this way.
In fact this site was developed using Wix
What I will do for you is demystify the whole web site development thing. To hand hold you through the options so that you can get up an running without the expense of paying a "developer". Creating a site is just one element.
You can go down a couple of routes or somewhere in between.
Common Traps
Other web site providers will deliver you a service and might trap you into long term commitment, making it inexpensive up front and costly over a long period. These methods include:
-
Buying your domain on your behalf: It will be registered in their name and they will own your URL in perpetuity. It could be expensive to buy it back from them.
-
Cheap but basic initial delivery and then every minor modification costs proportionally a lot more.
-
Monthly site hosting charge may seem cheap, but in reality it may not be.
-
Monthly email hosting charge, again I can help you shop around.
-
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is weak - how would you know.
-
Because you do not own the URL, may be difficult to get Google Analytics working without paying for the service

Option 1: DIY - Free, just my advise
If you are confident with computers, why not simply learn all this yourself. You can either validate your independent research of pay for a master class to get you up and running. Either way, you can follow up for advise or validation as you go. If I do not know the answer I will say, but I have a network of REAL web developers I can call on to get answers to some of the more technical queries.
Option 2: Outsource
I can get you up and running. I will get you to buy the domains, hosting etc but point you at what I feel is best for you to purchase. I can deliver a site to you on your platform and ad-hoc make any changes you require. At any stage you can slip into Option 1 or dip back to this option. You can even watch me do it real-time, and sometimes this is best when subjective decisions are required.
While this option is easier, the most time consuming bit can sometimes be deciding your style, following that there can be a lot of work involved, not technically but time consuming, and therefore I would expect payment.
Indicative examples if you outsource, detail subject to discussions on scope:
Standard 4 page web site £250
Standard basic function e-Commerce web site £800
Website Hosting Standard £10 / Month, e-commerce £20 / Month
Email hosting £5 per user per month
