IBM Terminal Robotics

Robot

OK I didn't create R2D2. I did robotics of another kind.

After writing the telnet functionality for big number change, I noted that the client software had other purposes and cam up with an idea. Using Visual Basic, and IBM terminal services along with source data I owned I proved I could create an unmanned tool that would automatically carry out the swivel chair activity of re-keying data.

Initially this was focused up simple bulk activity, such as obtaining the delivery dates of circuits in batch, but eventually it led to a completely zero touch order placement function for a number of products including the most complex Framestream.

BT Global Services sold me onto BT Wholesale to analyse the service management centre activities and provide automation on key areas. Within 6 months of working out of Edingburgh, I had not only recognised the end to end process deficiency but also effectively created a cross department API though robotics of their order management activities. This innovation contnues on to this day.
