Consultant Digital e-Comerce BA at RS Components
As a digital e-commerce analyst for Digitas LBI I consulted into RS Components to define API integration between new Hybris eCommerce platform and RS Components SVS linkage to their core customers systems.
Being dropped into this project when fixed price had already been agreed and yet the scope not yet defined clearly enough, this projects core focus was obtaining the detail behind the vision within extremely tight timescales.
As a supplier, the activity was run agile with stories on Jira, diagrams on Confluence and two week sprints.
As a client SVS were waterfall, with architectural documentation retained in word and not shared until fully signed off even though the process of discovery though standups and meetings were finding gaps and deficiencies as it went.
Despite this, I managed to map and document at high level the entire interaction flow for customer log in from the Hybris end and as a result highlighted the lack of readiness of of the client to deliver within their timescales. More importantly the scope of the project was shown to be hugely greater than the fixed plan it was working against.
The project was closed down, and all the contract resource released. I was the only contract resource retained and assigned to DLBI's flagship Hybris project at that time - TJX Europe.
